Choose the right plants for the right location

The great horticulturalist Beth Chatto’s mantra of “Right Plant, Right Place” remains one of the gardener’s most powerful references. It means, first of all, to establish what you are working with, the type of soil you have (loam, clay, sand) and the aspect of your borders (sunny or shady) – before selecting the plants to grow in your garden. Choosing plants that nature has adapted to thrive in such conditions, will ensure you are providing the best possible chance for plants to establish roots and thrive for years to come. This is one of the aspects of garden transformation that I enjoy the most and I will be delighted to help guide you along the right path.
